Tanheo Memorial Buddhist Museum
The First Educational Museum Creating Harmony and Communication
About

A museum established to honor the spirit, philosophy, and aspirations for nurturing talent of Venerable Tanheo, who achieved monumental work in Korea's Buddhist scripture translation history. The four-story building houses the monk's personal belongings, books, and translated works, and also serves as a community cultural facility hosting various cultural experiences, educational programs, and meditation sessions. The museum building itself is equally valuable: designed by architect Lee Seong-gwan, it is acclaimed as a beautiful architectural work incorporating natural elements, winning the 2010 Gangnam Beautiful Building Grand Prize and the Korean Architecture Culture Grand Prize (Presidential Award).
