BEATO 101 transforms a 25-year-old building (approved in 1998) into a new landmark in the Nonhyeon-dong cityscape. The scope goes far beyond simply replacing exterior materials, reorganizing the fundamental tectonic and functional order of the building.

The entire sixth floor and rooftop structures were demolished—a quarter of the building's total height. On top of the existing reinforced concrete structure, a steel-frame multi-purpose hall with an 8-meter ceiling was constructed, and progressively setback masses provide diverse terrace spaces. The rooftop is organized on two levels to maximize architectural promenading. Creating experiential and contemplative spaces in a dense urban setting was the project's starting point. BEATO 101 was designed as a building that thoroughly understands its site and becomes part of the urban landscape, enabling diverse spatial experiences through architectural promenading. This work transcends mere renovation, offering new connections and inspiration to the cityscape and people's daily lives.
